Lara is the Court-Annexed Arbitration Program Administrator for the Hawai’i State Judiciary in the First Circuit.  She oversees more than 730 volunteer arbitrators across Oahu who provide prompt and equitable resolutions of certain civil cases across the island. Before the Judiciary, Lara received her Bachelor’s from Ithaca College in Legal Studies and Journalism and later earned her JD degree from Ohio Northern University.

Lara brings unique perspectives gained from both Hawai’i’s legislature and government agencies, where she has written and researched various public policy initiatives for state legislators in preparation for television, radio interviews, and floor session speeches. With over ten years of legal experience and journalism experience, Lara has developed meaningful connections with government officials, judges, and attorneys all over Hawaii and continues to serve the public and promote access to justice.

Lara loves to sail with friends, snorkel, and go surfing when she is not in the office. Lara joined Surfrider Spirit Sessions in 2024 as a volunteer mentor and later became a board member.
