Do you know a youth who would benefit from a Spirit Sessions Program? Refer them to us.

Instructions

Referring a youth for Spirit Sessions is easy. You may submit as a youth services professional, parent, or hopeful participant.

Eligibility: Our program is free to qualified youth from 13-18 years old. Participants must be referred by a counselor, therapist, youth-serving organization, medical practitioner, court, probation officer, or case worker. Parents seeking admission for their child should forward this information to one of the professionals listed above, acquire a referral, and include it in the referral form.

Referral process:  You may refer in one of two ways - by online referral form or by phone (if you don’t have access to a computer). Online referrals are preferred but not required.

1) Online: Click the button below to fill out the referral form. Contact information for a parent or guardian and youth services professional must be included.

2) By phone: if you do not have access to a computer, it’s ok. You can call 808-593-1718 and speak to a staff member about applying.

Once your referral is submitted, we will review it (in the order we receive them) and follow up with you. All entries into the program are dependent on availability. Youth are provided boards, rash guards, lunch, water, journals, all activity supplies, and a mentor.  They need reliable transportation to and from the program site in Waikiki.

Before Surfrider Spirit Sessions, our daughter was feeling isolated, having difficulty with self-esteem issues, and yearning for positive interaction outside of our family. While in the program, she learned the importance of having a positive outlook on life and that there are people willing to help her to make good choices.  She has also gained a willingness to help others and to be a positive influence on others who may be going through similar situations … The values that were reinforced at SSS will go with her for the rest of her life.

My grandchild was struggling with anxiety and doing anything that involved the outdoors, spending so much time on the computer and playing computer games with far away internet friends. Through the program my grandchild has developed a deeper appreciation for the unique environment in which we live and stewardship of that environment. Also, there is a larger group of friends for my grandchild to attend activities with and be comfortable with. This has improved life at home.
